10/26/2016 Toronto Symphony Orchestra - Rachmaninoff & Gershwin Downtown

This first sampling of music from the “Roaring Twenties” displays the amazing range of styles that flourished during that era—from Gershwin's jazz rhapsody to the folksy wit of Kodály's Hungarian fairy tale and the neo-romanticism of Rachmaninoff. Steve Reich's piece pays tribute to another major '20s style: neo-classicism.

Engaging in themes of contemporary identity, culture, image, objects, commodification, and sexuality, this exhibition shares a process of awareness and discovery as Rai and Benítez photographically respond to each other's work. Featuring playful and clever self-portraits and still life photographs, this exhibition also incorporates elements of installation and mixed media.
