Artworks by Grace Dam. Grace Dam is a Toronto-based artist and proud Canadian, who gave up a career in finance to realize a lifelong passion for art. She works in oils, acrylics and other media. Her art reflects the complexity of life, the challenge of relationships –and the connections between earth and sky. “My approach combines figurative and abstract elements to explore the emotions and meaning inherent in my surroundings. My subject matter, sparked by the mood and politics of the day, is then researched and studied before I attempt to capture it on canvas. My message may appeal or it may provoke –my aim is to tempt the viewer to linger long enough to tease out the meaning.”
Diversions showcases the photographic outcomes of an ongoing artistic dialogue between emerging artists Ravinder Rai and Sebastián Benítez. Engaging in themes of contemporary identity, culture, image, objects, commodification, and sexuality, this exhibition shares a process of awareness and discovery as Rai and Benítez photographically respond to each other's work. Featuring playful and clever self-portraits and still life photographs, this exhibition also incorporates elements of installation and mixed media.
